The Project Room @ Independent Project Press is pleased to announce a new exhibition featuring fifteen beautiful and creative stone carvings from the Bishop-based artist Dick Cheeseman. “Perceptions in Stone” presents a wonderful overview of the range of Dick Cheeseman’s sculptural work from the past three years, ranging from contemplative explorations of human and animal forms to abstract works evoking the presence of other worlds or experiences. In addition, view work from our gallery artists: black & white desert photography and letterpress printed editions by Bruce Licher; earth paintings and pigment print editions from Karen Nielsen Licher; beautiful photorealistic oil paintings and archival prints from Ray T. Dutcher and Alan Sonneman; handmade kaleidoscopes from Darwin-based artist Judyth Greenburgh; exquisite vintage process photographic prints from Joe Profita; mysterious digital photographic prints by Dania DeJonghe; encaustic wax abstracts from Rodney Thompson. Everyone is encouraged to come explore a labyrinth made with volcanic ash and local clay created specifically for this event in the middle of Willow Street by artist Karen Nielsen Licher and friends. Chocolate-dipped crystallized ginger will be served.

EARTHFOOD REVOLUTION, the official food vendor for this year’s Downtown Bishop Chocolate Art Walk, will be serving their signature Rockin’ Avo Tacos (vegetarian), Sizzlin’ Salmon Tacos (pescatarian), and a “made from scratch” Vegetarian Black Bean Chili Bowl. And be sure to try their Organic Ginger/Lavender/Jasmine Sun Tea or a Cinnamon/ Apple Cider blend! EFR’s chocolate dessert is chocolate mousse cheesecake, served as a mini cupcake. Special pop-up installation by Judyth Greenburgh and Karen Nielsen Licher. Darwin resident Judyth Greenburgh (a self-described “feral artist”) is exploring all the possible ways to create inventive kaleidoscopes, and this special installation takes her creative vision even further into the conceptual realm. A fully interactive digital kaleidoscopic experience, walk up to the front door and as you move around see your movements transformed into a kaleidoscopic projection in the front window. Also to the right of the kaleidoscopic experience view an installation of recent ceramic sculptural work by Karen Nielsen Licher, consisting of sensuous forms inspired by nature and the energy that flows through all living things.

Sage to Summit will be presenting artwork by Oma Kassim and photography by Jean Drummond. Oma Kassim is an Architect, Artist and Rock Climber who can be found climbing, painting, or playing the fiddle around the Sierras. Her art business, Mountain Love Letters, was originally started by creating art to send as snail mail to friends in order to share some beauty of these wild places. This transformed into creating pieces to share with others her memories, experiences, and love for the mountains that she now calls home. Nature photographer Jean Drummond has a passion for capturing images of nature's details and designs that evoke soul-stirring feelings of calm, curiosity and inspiration. Her photographs offer a unique view of nature by focusing on the intimate details that can only be seen by slowing down. Jean’s photographic style combines macro, abstract and impressionistic views of the natural world. In addition, Howie Schwartz will be playing the guitar with Orion Boucher throughout the evening. We will be serving fun chocolate treats!

ALLIANCE (324 N. Main Street) Alliance is Bishop’s new full service tattoo street shop with 40 years of combined experience. Dan De La Riva will be the featured artist of Alliance for this year’s Art Walk. His passion for traditional tattoo art is his specialty. Bold lines and strong color makes a timeless tattoo in design and longevity. Dan has spent years and long hours studying and painting these classic designs. Come meet Dan and see his artwork on display. Chat with him and show your support. Alliance will have samples of a healthy hot chocolate drink for folks to try. Get a taste before it runs out!

Anne Marie's Home Boutique will be featuring beautiful hand-loomed weavings from Cheryl Winstead and hand painted watercolor “Pet Portraits" by Cheryl McDowell. Anne Marie’s will be serving hand made Oreo truffles!

Whiskey Creek will feature paintings by Charisse Rudolph, who likes to paint what people can feel. Charisse invites people to see the world differently. Her paintings vibrate with artistic color and energy, while the themes she works with remain true to the natural world. Charisse strives to create paintings that are original, and make people take a step back and smile. Special chocolate treats made from the Whiskey Creek Bakery will also be served.

Come and enjoy photography by local artist Julie Weiss, along with drawings, mixed media paintings & block prints from Independence-based artist Jenna Gibson at the newest lodging property in Bishop. We are located just north of Schat’s Bakery and have remodeled 4 of the 6 existing buildings on the property into a unique lodging property with both private rooms and bunk rooms. Steven White Woodworking will be hosting an open studio. Come see Steve’s fine wood shop, his work in progress, and a gallery of exquisite wood furniture and classy wooden gift items. You can also see the belly of the beast, as Steve will have a display of types of joinery used in his furniture construction. And don’t miss the new outdoor sculptures behind the studio in the open lot on Academy Street.

Good Earth Yogurt will be displaying paintings by Cora Wilke, an oil and watercolor painter currently creating and working within the Eastern Sierra. Inspired by wanderlust meeting the mountains, Cora’s work has grown to reflect her experiences outside and within her nature surroundings. Luke Kinney will perform his live music from 4-6pm. With classic roots in folk music and an ear for mixing genres, Luke blends his songs like a delicious musical smoothie. We will offer samples of our organic chocolate frozen yogurt and also have hot chocolate.

Black Sheep Coffee Roasters presents “Mindscapes and Landscapes,” showcasing colorful surrealist narrative paintings by Tony Lee, and monotone pencil sketches, ink drawings and lithograph landscapes by Pat Crowther, Ann Logan Piersall, David Kirk, Debb Campbell and Oma Kassim. Our fun tradition of having a kids art activity continues with a surrealism collage and sketch project. Art walkers of all ages will be welcome to pick up a pencil and exercise their art inclination at the many sketch stations that will be placed throughout the cafe. Resident baker extraordinaire Debbie Clarkson will craft her fresh made Chocolate Almond Mousse with berries, Chocolate Pumpkin Walnut Cookies and hot Mexican Cocoa to serve to devouring art walkers. New, seasonal ales will be on tap with pints and taster cups available for purchase. Sets of Live Music will start at the top of each chocolate hour: Janet Karecki at 3 pm, Gary Kimmel at 4 pm, Xandra Corpora at 5 pm, Eric Ellis at 6 pm and Luke Kinney at 7 pm. McMurry''s Barwill have artwork by local tattoo artist Weston Maddox on display. Mammoth Gear Exchange will be displaying water-based oil paintings featuring Eastern Sierra landscapes from Bishop artist Emma Ruppell, plus healing wands, totemic dishes and stone pendants created by Skandar Reid, and a selection of photographic prints by Trevor Anthes. Chocolate covered macadamia nuts and fresh pineapple will be served.

Spellbinder Books will be featuring handmade pottery by Frances Cholewa & Tom Meyers, along with original paintings and prints by Pat Crowther and Debb Campbell. Homemade chocolate cookies and treats will be offered.

Pupfish Cafe will be exhibiting “Welcome to Leo’s World,” featuring new paintings by local artist Rhondda Saunders. “My art is loosely based on the fun antics of my weiner dog – he goes as far as my imagination can take him; from politics to the outer limits.” Rhondda will have prints and original works available for sale during the show.

“Beasties. We are all beasties, some of us hide it better than others.” Artists Lori Michelon, Dana Ellis, Margaret Palchak, Karen Nielsen Licher and Laurel Stanford have freed theirs. Come see at the Mountain Rambler Brewery, October 19, the Chocolate Art Walk.

Luxe Salon is proud to feature the art of Jen Hoffman, a stained glass artist from San Francisco California. Jen is currently the artist in residence at the Glama-Rama Salon in Oakland, producing a quarterly show about BIG HAIR interpreted in a stained glass medium. Most of the pieces on exhibit at Luxe Salon are fused glass, stained glass or silk screened glass, including an artistic collaboration created with the illustrator Mitch O'Connell. Luxe Salon will also be offering delectable chocolates hand picked by Giddy Candy in San Francisco.

Indy Coffee Roasting Company is featuring two local artists, Judyth Greenburgh and Jael Hoffman. Renowned Darwin-based artist Judyth Greenburgh will be presenting one of her magical kaleidoscope installations. A self described "kaleidoscope junkie," Judyth Greenburgh sees kaleidoscopes as a metaphor for life and personal transformation. They create for her an infinite world of possibilities. The mirrors inside the kaleidoscopes reflect and project our point of view into something new. Jael Hoffmann, who is well known for her unique sculpture garden in Olancha, will be selling custom jewelry and handmade balms. Jael's jewellery work conveys a humanistic message or is just downright playful. Indy Coffee will be serving café mocha’s and sampling Gunner’s moms homemade brownies.

Great Basin Bakery will be showing artwork created by the elementary school students from Round Valley School, consisting of various projects including a collaborative mosaic made of dried beans and seeds. We will be serving chocolate dipped macaroons.

Use the new walkway beside Family Dollar if you are entering from Main St. to Warren St.) C5 Studios Community Arts Center will open its doors for the first time as a part of this year’s Downtown Bishop Chocolate Art Walk. Although still under construction, C5 Studios will display the works of the world's premier falling leaf photographer, Bruce Willey, along with the expressive leaf art of his daughter, Matilda Willey. Bruce Willey’s "In the Moment" is a photographic exploration of the brief moment a tree can fly. The falling leaf that forces us to rethink our relation to nature and time. There will also be a falling leaf installation where one can manipulate leaves from the gallery roof to the ground and attempt to make pictures of them. Hannah Burgoyne-Ryan will also be showing her woodblock carvings and prints titled "Fauna." Hannah’s carvings are made from recycled/reclaimed wood and are hand-printed using traditional Japanese techniques. C5 Studios co-founders Erin Boehme and Naomi Hart-Johnson will show sculpture, mixed medium and fine art. Alongside our current artists, C5 Studios will be hosting a rare showing of Dorcas Birchim's large western paintings on canvas. These beautiful works have been on display publicly in the Owens Valley since the 1970’s and are now in the Birchim family's private collection, along with one piece on loan from Laws Railroad Museum. For refreshment, we offer a unique experience of Russian Samovar tea ceremony by Harald Kanz. Tea will be artistically served from 5:00-7:00pm alongside cookies and a special chocolate surprise. Come visit your new community arts center as it develops into a thriving hub for the arts!

The Inyo Council for the Arts will be featuring the following local artists in the theatre section of the building: Phoebe Cantelow, with flocks of hand crafted papier mache and clay birds; Heather Freeman, whose pillows, totes, and wall hangings depict local scenic landscapes printed with her photographs; Bev Schroeder's photography and lampwork beads, buttons and jewelry; and Lynna Walker's jewelry and tie dye. Gallery items including paintings, photography, ceramics, woodwork and jewelry will also be available for sale. Chocolate brownies, cookies and candies will be served, along with fresh fruit and hot drinks.

Sip a cup of cacao chai, savor a homemade chocolate decadence, enjoy from our two chocolate fountains, meet our featured artist Frank Hawkins, contemporary artist and photographer, all while enjoying live music. Hawkins works in a style he calls “Contemporary Landscape Impressionism,” wherein he seeks to capture a feeling or experience rather than to achieve an accurate depiction of the scene. Additionally, on exhibit are works by award-winning artist Laura Talbot, and photography by Kim Hawkins. Bring the family—we have an activity for kids.

Flow Motion Pilates presents Dustin Ryan & his 2nd graders’ fall lantern display, titled “Autumn Glow.” The students of Mr. Ryan’s 2nd grade class would like to share their expressions of Autumn through expressing what Fall means to them in various ways. By taking reusable glass jars, they have made lanterns to bring some light to the Autumn season. This will be the first public art show for these students. Please come and show them that this community supports art in public schools. Jessi DeLong & FlowMotion Pilates’ main focus is on Movement Arts. Pilates equipment will be on display, with demonstrations available upon request. FlowMotion Pilates offers a full schedule of Pilates and yoga classes, for all levels and all bodies. We also offer Capoeira classes and adult dance classes, as well as Back & Joint Therapy and private lessons.
